TGA is a mentoring programme for youths to undergo a journey of self-discovery through experiential activities (either in a group or one-to-one setting).
We are looking for mentors who have a passion to support and journey with the youths navigating the sometimes turbulent period of adolescence through facilitated indoor/outdoor challenges and conversations. Training and support will be provided.
Volunteer Role: Mentor
Volunteer Responsibilities: Provide a listening ear to support youths in navigating growth and challenges, look out for safety and well-being, engage participants in conversation and activity, encourage participation and teamwork, be a good role model, assist staff with logistics e.g. set-up and tear-down
Time Commitment: Weekly on Saturdays, 9.30am to 1.30pm, 8 months duration from April to November
Requirements: Basic command of English, able and willing to commit, age: 19 years old & above

The GRIT Hub (TGH) is a weekly drop-in for youths (ages 13 to 17) that aims to support youths to grow resilient in coping with challenges and become caring individuals who contribute to their community. TGH provides a fun and relaxed place to make new friends and engage in different peer-led activities while connecting with supportive volunteers. With a semi-structured approach, youths have ready access to a safe space to mingle with peers under the care of friendly staff and volunteers, while also being challenged to step out of their comfort zone during planned activities.
Some highlight activities include GRIT Kitchen: a fun session involving food preparation, GRIT Speaks: a group sharing time about issues facing youths, GRIT Art: an avenue for creative expression and fun holiday youth engagements such as outing to Sentosa, high elements and more!
Volunteer Role: Befriender
Volunteer Responsibilities: befriend participants over conversation and youth-centric activities, be a role model, assist staff with logistics e.g. set-up and tear-down, look out for safety and well-being of participants
Time: Thursdays, open 3 to 7pm (commit to at least 2hours)
Requirements: Basic command of English, a heart to serve and willing to commit, age: 19 years old & above

This programme takes place every Friday, providing children (ages 7 to 12) a platform to have supervised homework coaching, group play, and be challenged to grow in knowledge, skills and values through a thematic approach to session activities. During the school holidays, special outings are also planned for the children to relax and unwind, while festive celebrations aim to foster community bonding - where children also get to step up as active contributors!
Volunteer Responsibilities: Look out for safety and well-being, engage participants in conversation and activity, encourage participation and teamwork, be a good role model, assist staff with logistics e.g. set-up and tear-down
Time Commitment: Fri from 2.30 to 6.30pm, fortnightly basis
Requirements: Basic command of English, a heart to serve and willing to commit, age: 15 years old & above

a. I will abide by the policies and procedures set forth, which guide the work of volunteers in their work with the beneficiaries. If in doubt, I will refer to the volunteer handbook and the respective programme in-charge for clarification. Lakeside reserves the right to reject my application or terminate my voluntary service at any time.
b. I will uphold truth, honesty, and integrity at all times by being a good role model,speaking and acting respectfully towards staff, beneficiaries, and clients, and protecting their privacy and dignity.
c. I will protect the privacy and confidentiality of beneficiaries, clients, and their families by not sharing their information, not exchanging personal contact details without Lakeside’s permission, and not posting any photos or recordings of them on social media or public platforms without prior authorisation.
d. I will not reproduce or use Lakeside's materials in any manner whatsoever without the express written permission of Lakeside.
e. I consent to allow Lakeside to collect, use, disclose and/or process my personal data to process, administer, facilitate, maintain and/or manage my relationship with Lakeside as a volunteer, including communications on Lakeside’s activities, programmes and services; and making disclosures required by law or a competent authority. Such purposes are set out in Lakeside’s Data Protection Policy, which is available at https://lakeside.org.sg/about-us/our-policies/#data-protection-policy, and I confirm that I have read and understood.
f. I will not solicit sales or promote services of any kind.
g. I understand that Lakeside will take all reasonable steps to provide care and safety for the volunteers and would therefore not take any legal action and/or claims against Lakeside, staff and beneficiaries in respect of any injury, loss, damage or harm arising from my participation in the volunteer activities of Lakeside.
h. I will abide by these agreements for as long as I render my voluntary services to Lakeside. Lakeside reserves the right to terminate my service if I fail to comply with the above.
