A MILLION STEPS - INTO A NEW SEASON

Who understands new beginnings better than seniors and ex-offenders?​ Seniors stepping into a new season of life, sometimes marked by retirement, loss, and loneliness. Ex-offenders are stepping into a fresh start, often still facing rejection, judgement, isolation and distrust as they rebuild their lives.​ 

Different paths, same reality.​ But new seasons are not crossed in one leap. They are built step by step.​

At Lakeside, we walk with them through each step. Offering support, guidance, and a community that helps them regain confidence, rebuild purpose, and keep moving forward.​ Because every new season deserves a strong start, and no one should have to begin it alone.​

CROSS ISLAND WALK

“I began my social work journey in 1992 at Lakeside Family Services, serving disadvantaged children, youth, seniors, families, and former inmates. This year marks my seventh consecutive time leading the overnight walk, a personal commitment to raise funds for ex-inmates and their families. We invite you to stand with us in bringing hope and healing by walking together. Every step you take offers encouragement, renews hope, and helps restore lives for those striving for a second chance.”

Tee Loon will be leading our annual overnight walk for the 7th time on 30 October 2026 – a 35km walk from Jurong to Changi, to raise awareness and funds for our work. Walk alongside us by taking part in the A Million Steps Challenge and help us to share our cause with your friends and family!

Kaki Kampong Seniors Wellness

In 2025, we support 848 seniors

Kaki Kampong Seniors Wellness (KKSW) serves seniors aged 50 and above by helping them live active and fulfilling lives.

Lakeside’s TJ Haven (TJH) provides services to the incarcerated, ex-inmates, and their families through in-care and aftercare programmes.

Stories

Donate $50 to provide communal lunch for 5 isolated seniors once a month

Donate $200 to help 1 family connect with their loved ones in prison through 4 teleconferencing sessions (Tele-visits), inclusive of support from our caseworkers

Donate $500 to support 1 ex-inmate in securing employment through 6 sessions of job coaching

Donate $1,000 to fund an outing for 20 isolated seniors

Donate $2000 to provide 1 (ex-)inmate and their family with case management support for 1 year
