Small Steps, Big Dreams Walk

Thank you for joining us at our Small Steps, Big Dreams Walk 2025! This Walk is part of our Small Steps, Big Dreams campaign, and through this campaign, we are fundraising for our programmes serving children, youths, seniors, and ex-inmates.

You may find out more about our programmes below and we appeal to you to support us by joining our Steps Challenge and fundraising for us, or making a donation!

TJ Haven

Taman Jurong Haven supports incarcerated individuals, ex-inmates, and their families through in-care and aftercare programmes. We promote reconciliation, restoration, and reintegration by fostering hope, reconnecting families, and providing guidance during challenging times. Our services include Tele-visit, Re-entry Preparation Programme and Case Management Service.

In 2024, we served 3,926 inmates and their families.

Annual funding needs: $230,000

Family Service Centre

Lakeside Family Centre (Jurong East & Jurong West) provides casework and counselling for individuals and families in need and connects them to helpful resources. We also conduct outreach to understand the needs of the community.

In 2024, we served 966 individuals and families to help them overcome challenges such as financial issues, family violence issues, and accommodation issues.

Lakeside Student Care

Lakeside Student Care (Jurong East & Jurong West) provides after-school care and supervision for children aged 7 to 12. Meals, homework coaching, and enrichment programmes are provided. The children are taught to be responsible and independent from an early age.

In 2024, we cared for 213 children.

Annual funding needs: $120,000

Reading Intervention Services

Lakeside’s Reading Intervention Services serves children aged 4 to 8 from low-income families with reading programmes, storytelling, crafts, audio-visuals, songs, play, and phonics lessons.

We help them learn to read at an age-appropriate level, and cultivate good reading habits. Sessions are held with small groups and modified paces of instruction to meet individual needs and learning styles.

Our belief is in the distinctive “custom fit” approach of our reading programme, rather than “one size fits all”. By learning skills and strategies for reading, comprehension, and speaking, children develop their self-esteem and gain confidence, thereby translating to academic success at school.

In 2024, we served 161 children.

Annual funding needs: $145,000

Kaki Kampong Seniors Wellness

Kaki Kampong Seniors Wellness (KKSW) promotes holistic wellness in seniors aged 50 and above, empowering them to take charge of their lives and well-being.

KKSW keeps the kampong spirit alive by encouraging seniors to do good in the community. Active seniors reach out to isolated and vulnerable seniors, strengthening community bonds through peer-to-peer volunteering. Volunteering also helps seniors maintain an active lifestyle and a positive mindset.

KKSW runs interest groups, and organises outings, events, and celebrations for seniors.

In 2024, we served 300 seniors.

Annual funding needs: $60,000

CREST-Youth (SOAR)

CREST-Youth (SOAR) fosters mental well-being and provides essential support for youths aged 12 to 25. Through interactive engagement, we reduce the stigma surrounding mental health concerns, encourage help-seeking behaviour, and empower youths to prioritise their well-being.

In 2024, we served 2,821 youths and 75 parents / caregivers.

The GRIT Project

The GRIT Project (TGP) is a Children and Youth Centre at Jurong West (Nanyang). It nurtures a caring generation to serve the community and addresses the needs of disadvantaged children and youths aged 5 to 18. Our staff and volunteers instil GRIT values in young people – Grace, Respect, Integrity, and Tenacity – all of which lead to grit!

TGP provides a safe space for self-discovery and empowerment for young people so they can grow to be confident, competent, connected, caring, and of good character.

Annual Funding Needs: $250,000
