Stories of Lakeside
Alysa is an independent, kind, and helpful girl who calls The GRIT Project (TGP) her second home. TGP provides her with opportunities to experience new things and discover more about herself. For instance, she developed her musical talent by joining our ukulele class and has improved significantly in her skills, thanks to the lessons and her own discipline in practising. She considers TGP a safe space for her to rest when things are bothering her and confides in the staff and good friends she has made here.
Joining her at our drop-in programme, we have Aiman, a bubbly and curious boy who looks up to the older youths. We brought him for activities like dragon-boating, bouldering, and high elements, where he overcame his fear of heights and gained a sense of accomplishment. TGP is also a community where he feels a sense of belonging and acceptance. Here, he gets to develop new friendships and be inspired to grow in maturity. Now, he is our energetic befriender who welcomes new participants and cares for those around him.
@thegritproject.lakeside addresses the needs of children and youths aged 7 to 17, including those from disadvantaged families. Through fun-filled activities and mentoring, we provide a safe space for self-discovery and empowerment. From now til 31 December 2024, you can help us keep the good work at TGP going by donating to our campaign #TheNextGeneration: https://lakeside.org.sg/support-us/the-next-generation#donate
