Stories of Lakeside

Jie Yang

What is it like to be a sibling who has a sibling with complex medical needs?

For years, Jie Yang lived in the background. With his parents focused on his younger brother’s medical care, he felt overlooked. That quiet resentment soon turned into stress, anxiety, and acting out at home.

He did not need to be reprimanded. He just needed to be seen and heard.

Through @thegritproject.lakeside, Jie Yang finally found an environment where he belonged. He learned to navigate his complex emotions and manage his anxiety.

Today, that quiet boy has transformed into a confident, communicative child who even volunteers to help his peers.

The right support at the right time completely changes a life.

Donate $300 to engage 3 children meaningfully over the school holidays (8 sessions).
