Stories of Lakeside
While many would find the current job market challenging, it is even more daunting for 32-year-old Jon (not his real name). Despite having the educational qualifications, Jon was overlooked by employers as he had been in prison multiple times before. Discouraged by repeated rejections, he found himself slowly slipping into the negative patterns of his past.
In his time of need, Jon remembered how his former caseworker would assist inmates, so he decided to approach Chris from Lakeside Family Services (Lakeside) again for help. Chris took a personalised approach to his case. Instead of simply finding Jon any available job, he took time to understand his background, abilities, and aspirations.
Through Lakeside’s Employment Support Services, Chris successfully matched Jon with a medical supply logistics company. He highlighted Jon’s education and capabilities to the employer, who recognised his potential and enrolled him in supply chain management courses.
Jon excelled in training, demonstrating the right skills and knowledge. Through hard work, he advanced from his initial position as a delivery driver to being a logistics executive specialising in pharmaceutical cold chain management.
This career progression not only doubled his salary but created a path where his education is valued. Jon’s quality of life rose in tandem with his financial standing, while the professional recognition boosted his confidence and self-esteem!
