#ICAN____

As a child, your dreams for the future were imaginative and boundless. Our fundraiser campaign, #ICAN____, aims to encourage children and youths to boldly declare their aspirations.

Last year, we raised over $115k which helped us to change the lives of more than 500 children and 250 youths. Help us achieve $300k this year to run enhanced programmes that will guide our children and youths’ social and emotional development, and transform their character, develop confidence and competence. Our #ICAN____ fundraising campaign will be running from 1 May to 31 Oct 2022.

Will you help us inspire our children and youths to uncover their potential?

LAKESIDE’S CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROGRAMMES

The GRIT Project

The GRIT Project (TGP) is our Children and Youth Centre addressing the needs of disadvantaged children and youths, aged 5 to 18. Through fun-filled and engaging activities, our staff and volunteers instil values of Grace, Respect, Integrity, and Tenacity (or GRIT) in young people by providing a safe space for self-discovery and empowerment. We hope to nurture a confident, competent, connected and caring generation to serve the community.

In 2021, 175 children & 70 youths found a caring community at The GRIT Project

Reading Intervention Services

RIS

Lakeside’s Reading Intervention Services serves children aged 4 to 8 from low-income families. Through reading programmes, storytelling, crafts, audio-visuals, songs, play, and phonics lessons, we help them learn to read at an age-appropriate level. By learning skills and strategies for reading, comprehension, and speaking, children develop their self-esteem and gain confidence, thereby translating to academic success at school.

In 2021, 117 children learned to read with Reading Intervention Services

Lakeside Student Care

We partner with volunteering groups to bring the children a variety of experiences like outings, learning trips, workshops, sports, and celebrations, providing meaningful and fun-filled learning opportunities for children and volunteers alike.

In 2021, 220 children received quality care from Lakeside Student Care

TESTIMONIES

All of us start out with great potential, yet for some children and youths, difficult life circumstances present numerous challenges to fulfilling it. It has been our joy to befriend, nurture and guide them. Lakeside Family Services connects them to various opportunities while providing their families with the assistance they need.

Indeed, our children and youths are capable of achieving great things and creating a positive impact on society. We are proud to share heartfelt stories from our current and past beneficiaries, and the dedicated staff and volunteers who believed in them when they said “I can!”
