Stories of Lakeside
I’ve seen firsthand how the stigma of a past conviction can make it incredibly difficult for ex-inmates to find employment and rebuild relationships. The biggest challenge is that when they are faced with a problem, they often think of giving up because they already feel so discouraged by life. How to encourage them and build their confidence again is a challenge. But I tell them, “God is our hope, don’t give up so easily.”
One of the most impactful things I can do is to simply be their friend. By offering my time, listening to their problems, and constantly encouraging them to build a new life, it lets them know they are not alone. Along the way, I’ve learned that everyone deserves a second chance, and with faith and support, even the most challenging circumstances can be overcome. It’s been incredibly rewarding to be a part of their journey.”
