“Overcoming addiction and finding stability in life was a long journey for me. l faced numerous challenges and relapses during rehabilitation but I never gave up hope. Although I found employment when I was released from prison, I had difficulty adjusting and coping with the demands of these jobs. When I felt uncertain about the future and the challenges seemed overwhelming, I turned to drugs to cope.”

“Thankfully, in my darkest times, I found the support of Chris, my dedicated Case Manager at Lakeside Family Services (Lakeside). Not only did he walk with me through the hardship, he helped me find a job that was perfect for me through Lakeside’s Employment Support Services.

At my new job, I found a working environment and culture that was nurturing. This boosted my self-esteem and gave me the confidence to upskill and pursue further studies in the field. Their commitment to my growth and advancement filled me with the motivation to excel and work towards building a successful career.

Today, I am glad to say I have left my troubled past behind and I can finally see a clearer and brighter future before me. This just goes to show that there’s no such thing as a lost cause. I hope my story can inspire others and show that with guidance, support and determination, change is possible. Most importantly, you can be a huge part of that change and become a force of transformation for those who struggle like I did.”
